People love apps. They’re intuitive, personalized and easier on the phone. Users spend less time waiting for content to load, which means more time interacting with you! With so many mobile apps being developed these days, there’s no secret formula to stand out. So, how can you create a beautiful app that doesn’t waste your resources?

You know your audience best. That said, there are things to take note of that will help your app stand out from others, resulting in more downloads and engagement. Let’s review four of the most important mobile app design trends that will help you get more looks.

1. Follow the “Less is More” Rule

Mobile apps are not meant to be busy or complicated. They should be simplified and easy to navigate. Also, don’t confuse minimal with boring. You can be creative and original without going overboard.

To help choose a great design for your app, take a look at the mobile apps you enjoy using and why. Is it the way the app is organized? Is it how the buttons respond to touch? You’d be surprised at how little things can make a big difference!

2. Use Familiar Patterns

As you review your app, don’t just look at the parts of it. Consider the complete experience. How do the different parts connect? Are you delivering consistency? Does the app make sense?

Your app should feel natural and intuitive. To help, use patterns that you see in common apps to make your interface more familiar. Group related items together so they can be found easily, and only offer help when users need it.

3. Work Off Your Current Color Palette

Color plays a vital role in the creation of your app. Don’t be afraid to experiment with various colors and the types of actions they drive. If you like your current color palette, start there. It’s predictable and familiar. You can then make simple tweaks to add more personality to your app. For example, bold and unique versions of your brand colors can be great for animations and CTAs.

4. Provide Feedback

As you explore your masterpiece, remember that it can’t just look good. It must function well, too. Your mobile users will be interacting with your app through their mobile device, so the buttons must provide some type of feedback.

To prevent users from clicking buttons repeatedly, be sure they are receiving a cue that their intent has been heard. Also, how do the buttons feel in general? Are they large enough? Responsive? Easy to press?

Designing an app is a fun and rewarding process, but it’s not without some hurdles. As you develop an app for your brand, be sure to consider your individual users at every twist and turn and how you can create a seamless experience through good design.
